Rainer Berg (born August 21, 1965 in Munich ) is a former German goalkeeper and goalkeeper coach .
Career
societies
After the youth stations TSV Neubiberg , TSV 1860 Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching , Rainer Berg was in the amateur squad of FC Bayern Munich until 1985 . He then moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SV Darmstadt 98 . In the 1987/88 season he completed all 38 point games, otherwise he was mostly a substitute goalkeeper behind Wilhelm Huxhorn .
In 1990 he switched to the Bayern league club TSV 1860 Munich, for whom he played in his youth. Berg was able to establish himself immediately as a goalkeeper and rose to the second division with the "Löwen" at the end of the season. There followed a descent and an ascent. After promotion to the Bundesliga in 1994/95 , Berg was ousted as “number 1” by young Bernd Meier . It was not until 1996/97 that he came to more stakes with 23 point games.
After the end of the season he moved to the second division club 1. FC Nürnberg , for which he played the first five games of the season. However, the cooperation ended after he criticized the dismissal of coach Willi Entenmann .
For the 2000/01 season he joined SSV Jahn Regensburg , who played in the Regionalliga Süd , as a goalkeeper coach and as a "stand-by goalkeeper" in the squad. From 2002 to 2011 he was also the goalkeeping coach at SpVgg Unterhaching ; the term of his contract was not extended towards the end.
Berg played 33 Bundesliga games for TSV 1860 Munich and 149 second division games, 77 of which were for SV Darmstadt 98, 67 for TSV 1860 Munich and five for 1. FC Nürnberg. He also played a total of ten DFB Cup games for these clubs .

Berg played his only international match on August 11, 1987 in Trier , when he lost 2-0 with the U-21 national team against France .
