Wilhelm Huxhorn (born September 20, 1955 - † April 15, 2010 ) was a German football player . The goalkeeper was active for SV Darmstadt 98 for eight years in the second division .

Career

Huxhorn played for Germania Pfungstadt and switched to Darmstadt 98's second team in 1981 . From the amateurs he moved up to the second division squad in 1984 . Under coach Lothar Kleim he was initially the second goalie behind Frank Berlepp . On August 28, 1984, at the age of almost 29, he was on the professional team for the first time behind the experienced defenders Karl-Heinz Emig and Rolf Dohmen between the posts. Opponent was 1. FC Saarbrücken , who took the lead thanks to a penalty from Stefan Jambo ; Substitute young striker Bruno Labbadia saved SV 98 from a draw. Huxhorn fought against leukemia for many years . He succumbed to the disease on April 15, 2010.
