Robert Hemmerlein (born December 3, 1959 in Bamberg ) is a former German professional football goalkeeper.

Career

Hemmerlein came from SC Reichmannsdorf in Upper Franconia to the second division club SC Fortuna Köln in 1982 . However, he made his professional debut only one season later, on August 23, 1983 against MSV Duisburg (2: 3). In total, he completed 50 second division games in the 1983/84 and 1984/85 seasons .

On April 27, 1985 he had to accept a very special goal : In the game against SV Darmstadt 98 , Wilhelm Huxhorn scored a goal with a tee shot from 102 meters. Hemmerlein initially stood far in front of his goal and then misjudged the trajectory of the ball, so that the ball jumped over him into the goal.
