The TuS Geretsried is a sports club from the Upper Bavaria Geretsried .

history

30 people founded the gymnastics and sports club on April 12, 1949, which initially consisted of the football department. The first football game and the first victory (4: 3) came on June 16 of the same year against the sponsor club TSV Schäftlarn . In 1968, the Isaraustadion, opened in 1966, hosted the women's international competition between Germany and France , and in 1971 there was another women's international competition, this time between Germany and Romania . In 1974 TuS already had almost 1,900 members, now there are around 2,300.

Departments

  • Badminton : Badminton has been played at TuS Geretsried since 1970, back then as a sub-division for volleyball players. It has been independent since 1974.
  • Basketball : The basketball department was established in 1991.
  • Ice sports department : The ice sports department was founded in 1961 and has been inactive at TuS Geretsried since summer 2006.
    • The ice hockey women's team , which was established in the 1986-87 season, played for many years in the women hockey league and was there in 1993 German champions and three times runner-up ( 1999 - 2001 ) until the dissolution of 2001, when the team completely for SC Riessersee moved .
    • The senior ice hockey team played at times in the 2nd Bundesliga and last played in the Bavarian League in 2005/06 .
    • The junior teams won the Bavarian championship title several times and played for the German championship title.
    • In the middle of 2006 the ice sports department was spun off from TuS Geretsried. Its members founded a new association, the ESC Riverrats Geretsried.
  • Figure skating : Founded in 1984 as an independent department, figure skating was incorporated into the ice sports department in 1989. Since 2006, the figure skating division has also started under the umbrella of the ESC Riverrat Geretsried.
  • Soccer : Soccer was the first sport that you could play at TuS. The home stadium of the footballers and some other TuS athletes is the Isaraustadion , which opened in 1966 .
  • Handball : The founding of the handball department took place in 1952 as the fourth department.
  • Coronary Sports : Since 1987 there has been a separate department for coronary sports. However, exercise with heart patients requires constant monitoring by doctors. Seven doctors agreed and a separate department could be founded. At the 10th anniversary of this department in 1997, there were already 75 members.
  • Athletics : In 1966 the athletics department was established.
    • Numerous stars like Heide Rosendahl were welcomed to Geretsried for the international matches in 1968 and 1971 in the Isaraustadion .
  • Chess : The chess department was the third department at TuS (founded in 1951). As a result of them, chess groups were formed at local schools. Such school teams, but also other teams, celebrated some regional and national championship titles (e.g. German school chess master).
  • Table tennis : In 1958 a table tennis department joined the TuS.
  • Gymnastics : In 1951 the gymnastics department was founded. The gymnastics department is currently the largest department with almost 1000 members. Many groups such as rehab sports, martial arts, fitness sports and dance for children and young people can be found in the gymnastics department in addition to the classic gymnastics groups (children's gymnastics, MuKi, competitive gymnastics, senior citizens and adult sports).
  • Volleyball : In 1970 the volleyball department was launched. From October 2006 it will be possible to play beach volleyball.
