Regionalliga 2011/12
3rd division 2012/13

The 2012/13 season of the Regionalliga Bayern was the fifth season of the Regional Football League as the fourth highest division and the first of the Regionalliga Bayern in Germany. Due to a league reform, there were no longer three seasons of a regional league in the 2012/13 season , but five leagues of equal rank from five associations. Hence the now fixed league allocation of the teams depending on the association membership. The sponsorship of the leagues was transferred from the DFB to the regional and state associations. The regional league clubs no longer received any television money. An originally planned upper limit of a maximum of seven second teams of the DFL clubs was rejected by the state associations. Second teams from clubs in the 3rd league may play in the fifth division (upper league) at the most, while third teams generally have no right of promotion to the regional league.

Under the Regionalliga, the Bayern League was expanded to two seasons.

The second team of TSV 1860 Munich secured the championship title with 80 points and thus seven points ahead of the second team of FC Bayern Munich . The unofficial title of autumn champion had the FV Illertissen secured with 38 points. With the championship title, Munich qualified for the promotion games to the 3rd league , in which they failed in two games at the Südwest representative and runner-up SV Elversberg . The third-placed FV Illertissen won the title of Bavarian amateur champion for the best-placed club that was not a second team from a professional club, who also qualified for the first main round of the DFB Cup of the 2013/14 season.

The relegation ranks were occupied by SC Eltersdorf , FC Ismaning and VfL Frohnlach . The second team of FC Augsburg and SpVgg Bayern Hof subsequently secured relegation in the relegation round to remain in the regional league with the two representatives of the Bayern league.

1. FC Schweinfurt 05 rose from the Bavarian League as champions of the North Season and SV Schalding-Heining as champions of the South Season. In the relegation round, TSV Großbardorf and BC Aichach failed because of the regional league team.
