The Paul Renz district sports facility is an urban sports facility in the Oberhausen district of the Swabian city of Augsburg . It is the traditional home of Bundesliga club FC Augsburg , who later used the stadium as a training facility. It has been named since 1994 after the Augsburg football idol Paul Renz (1920–1993), the former youth director of FC Augsburg.
history
The facility was inaugurated on September 18, 1958 as the north sports facility and served as a club facility for BC Augsburg and FC Augsburg . In 1978 the site was taken over by the city and named after Paul Renz on September 21, 1994.
The area covers 60,000 m², on which there are three grass playing fields and an artificial turf pitch. The main playing field is surrounded by standing walls that provide space for around 9,400 spectators, including benches for around 600 spectators.
