The municipality of Pyrbaum has 14 districts:

There are the districts of Oberhembach, Pyrbaum, Rengersricht and Seligenporten.

history

Until the 18th century

A hand ax find near Rengersricht shows that hunters and gatherers roamed the area as early as the Neolithic Age . A Celtic settlement in Pruppach from antiquity is documented by the remains of a Celtic entrenchment on the castle stables .

The place Pyrbaum was mentioned for the first time in 1130 and is considered the oldest place in today's municipality of Pyrbaum. From 1346 until its extinction in 1740, Pyrbaum was ruled by the von Wolfstein family. Wilhelm von Wolfstein built a castle in Pyrbaum in 1493. The parish church in honor of St. George was built around 1510, and the church chapel with a winged altar was built at the same time. Around 1540 the Wolfsteiners, who had meanwhile accepted the new confession, had the Reformation carried out in Pyrbaum ; This was completed in 1561, the last Catholics left the place. In the Thirty Years' War , the municipality was badly affected.

In 1740 Pyrbaum came to Bavaria after the Wolfsteiner had gone out. With the help of the Capuchin Order , Pyrbaum was re-Catholicized; April 14, 1751 celebrated Sulzbürger Capuchin the first Mass since the Reformation in Pyrbaumer cereal box. In Castle Pyrbaum a worship room was furnished and in 1752 became a permanent housing for the Capuchins, from Sulzbürg or Neumarkt came for the holding of fair, set up. Even a small church was there in 1753, in spite of the opposition of the Franciscans of Freystadt that their income from alms feared benediziert . Due to the increased number of Catholics, a Catholic school was set up in Pyrbaum on October 13, 1756 (the first Catholic teacher was also employed) and in 1757 a Catholic cemetery was set up on land belonging to the state. The Kapuzinerhospice (today the vicarage at Oberhembacher Weg 2) was built in 1760, which was not without protests from the local evangelical citizens, who also included the Corpus Evangelicorum in Regensburg. These conflicts over Catholic petitions and processions or the setting up of wayside shrines and crosses in public space continued for the next few years. The last complaint to the Corpus Evangelicorum dates from 1768.

19th and 20th centuries

Catholic parish church Mater dolorosa in Pyrbaum

On March 5, 1802, the Capuchin hospice was closed and the monks living here were relocated to the Capuchin monastery in Altötting . The inventory was handed over to the parish and the local priest. On February 14, 1803, Georg Maier was ordained as the first secular pastor; he also received the library of the Capuchins, if it was not already sold to a papermaker. The hospice building became the rectory.

In 1853 the castle burned down, but not the chapel, which was demolished in 1880/81 and replaced by a new building. This church burned down on Whit Monday 1899. In the following year a new building followed, which was designated on January 20, 1901.

In 1923 the community got electricity, from 1954 a central water supply step by step.

Incorporations

At the beginning of the 19th century the communities Pyrbaum, Oberhembach, Rengersricht and Seligenporten were established. These were combined on October 1, 1970 to form the municipality of Pyrbaum.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the market grew from 4,441 to 5,813 by 1,372 inhabitants or 30.9%.
