Postbauer-Heng is a market in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . The double name is derived from the two formerly independent communities Postbauer and Heng. The municipality was granted market rights on September 17, 2005.

Geographical location

The Postbauer-Heng market is located in the western Upper Palatinate between Nuremberg and Regensburg (approx. 8 km west of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate ).

The main town Postbauer-Heng lies at the foot of the Dillberg , which is the highest point of the market at 595 m. The Dillberg is considered a border mountain between the Upper Palatinate and Middle Franconia; at the same time as Unterquellberg for the Schwarzach and the Siegenbach and thus also as the European watershed .

Expansion of the municipal area

The market post-Heng belonging districts Post-Heng, An der Heide, fire mill, book Dillberg, Kemnath, Köstlbach, Kothmühle, Pavelsbach (code 09180) and Wurzhof. The current place Postbauer-Heng has grown together from the earlier places Heng and Postbauer.

Until the church is planted

The district of Heng was mentioned for the first time around the year 1000 .

In 1068, the church of St. Jakobus in Heng was the oldest building in the community.

From 1283 to 1805 the Teutonic Order was represented with a castle in Postbauer, which was renovated in 1996 and is now used as a cultural site. During this time, the place belonged to the Deutschordensballei Franconia and thus also to the Franconian Empire .

In 1381 the robber knight Eppelein von Gailingen was arrested in the village of Postbauer and executed a few days later in Neumarkt .

The community was created on April 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria by merging the previously independent communities Postbauer and Heng.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1975, the community Pavelsbach was also incorporated as part of the community reform.

20th and 21st centuries

In 1998 the new Evangelical Martin Luther Church was opened. The pastor is Cornelia Dinkel.

Postbauer-Heng is located in the European metropolitan region of Nuremberg and was declared a market on September 17, 2005.

Between 1988 and 2018 the market grew from 5,512 to 7,767 by 2,255 inhabitants or 40.9%.

The first mayor is Horst Kratzer (CSU). He was elected with 71.0% of the valid votes in the 2020 local elections. Competitor Andrea Huber (SPD) received 16.2% and Jürgen Rupprecht (civic block) 12.7% of the vote. The turnout was 64.0 percent.

Markt Postbauer-Heng is a member of the municipal alliance Schwarzachtalplus. This also includes the city of Altdorf near Nuremberg , the municipality of Berg near Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate , the municipality of Burgthann , the Markt Feucht , the municipality of Leinburg , the Markt Pyrbaum , the municipality of Schwarzenbruck and the municipality of Winkelhaid . An integrated rural development concept (ILEK) is to be created. The aim is cooperation and coordination between the municipalities, among other things to meet the challenges of demographic change . This includes the maintenance of infrastructure and supply facilities.

Postbauer-Heng has had a partnership with the Austrian municipality of Sankt Ulrich bei Steyr since 1979 and with the Hungarian municipality of Gárdony since 1991 .

Culture

In Postbauer-Heng there is a large cultural offer, which is coordinated by the meeting point PH as part of Agenda 21 . Lectures and classical concerts take place in the former Teutonic Order Castle, which is run by the community; In the KiSH, which is operated by an association, mainly concerts of jazz , blues, rock and cabaret are offered. There is also a youth cinema in the village, called the “crank box”, which also offers a regular cinema program once a month. Since 2011 there has also been a youth club in the former fire station, which is looked after by two street workers.

St. Cäcilia in Pavelsbach
  • The St. Elisabeth Church dates from 1975, the bell tower was built in 1980.
  • The St. Jakobus Church, built in 1068, is the oldest building in the community. It was expanded in 1881/82.
  • The St. Johannes Church was built by the Teutonic Order in the years 1722-1724.
  • The St. Leonhard Church in Pavelsbach from 1736 is a remarkable Rococo building .
  • The St. Cäcilia Church in Pavelsbach was rebuilt from 1602 to 1608 on the site of a church that was destroyed in 1552.
  • The Martin Luther Church , consecrated in 1998, is the church for the evangelical Christians in the community.

  • The local chapel Antonius von Padua in Buch was built by the townspeople in 1786.
  • The local chapel Mariä Namen in Köstlbach was inaugurated in 1999 and replaced a chapel from 1792, which had to be demolished because of its dilapidation.
  • The house chapel in Postbauer was built in 1834 by an innkeeper as a house chapel.

Postbauer-Heng is located directly on the B 8 and on the Nuremberg – Regensburg railway line . Nuremberg, 30 km away, can be reached via the B 8 . The distance to the A 3 with connection in Neumarkt and the A 9 with connection in Allersberg is 10 km each.

On December 1, 1871, Postbauer was connected to the railway, in 1978 the station was renamed Postbauer-Heng , and in 1998 it was converted to S-Bahn level. The S-Bahn has been in operation since December 2010.

Postbauer-Heng is integrated into the transport association Greater Nuremberg (VGN) and is served daily by numerous train connections to Neumarkt and Nuremberg with the S-Bahn line S3 of the VGN and bus connections to Neumarkt and Allersberg with the line 505 of the OVF .

education

In Postbauer-Heng there is the Erich-Kästner-Schule, the largest elementary school in Upper Palatinate in terms of number of pupils (709 pupils in the 06/07 school year). Approx. 400 students attend the educational institutions (grammar school, secondary school, FOS / BOS and special needs school) in Neumarkt. In Postbauer-Heng there is also a music school of the Federal Association of German Private Music Schools , which is located in the schoolhouse of the former community of Heng (today "House of Music"). Heiko Gärtner founded a "wilderness school" in Postbauer-Heng .
