In Ezelsdorf many properties from earlier times have another name, the so-called house name. Well-known house names are z. B. "Friedl" or "Hansenwirt". The respective owner family is then called "van Friedl" or "van Hansenwirt", while the individual house occupant z. B. is referred to as "Hansenwirts-Rudl".

history

In 1953, near Ezelsdorf, the gold hat from Ezelsdorf-Buch , a 89 cm high sheet gold cone from the Bronze Age, was found. The finder Michael Dörner hacked it up as a "cumbersome sheet" and carelessly throws it aside; Today it can be viewed in the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg .

Ezelsdorf / Steinbach is probably a "real" foundation of the Franconian tribe. The place was named after the founder "Ezel". In the 13th century, the Lords of Thann had basic rights here. In 1297 the goods came to the Teutonic Order. In 1300 they passed to the burgrave Friedrich IV of Nuremberg from 1350 to 1806 Ezelsdorf belonged to the Burgthann office and became an independent municipality after its dissolution.

The former threshing barn in the center of the village was converted into the community house in 1986/87. At that time, 109 parishioners worked over 3000 hours. On July 19, 1987, the house was inaugurated by Regional Bishop Hermann von Loewenich. In 2007 it was renovated - again with the help of many people from Ezelsdorf. Today the house offers space for various events of the parish and the Diakonieverein. Among other things, a church service and a children's church service take place there every fortnight, as well as the meetings of the senior daycare center and the mother-child group and other groups.
