Pruppach is a district of the market Pyrbaum in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

The village is located in a forest clearing, about 4 km southwest of Pyrbaum. To the southeast, on a hill, there is a castle stable , which is probably of Celtic origin. The Finsterbach flows 800 m north along the edge of the Pruppach Forest. The NM 6 district road leading to Pyrbaum crosses the village.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1265. A Conradus von Sulzbürg (former name of the Wolfsteiner) and Conradus von Nürnberg sold the “neuwehovelin” ( Neuhof ) estate to the Heilbronn monastery . Conradus von "Brukkebach" (Pruppach) is noted as a witness of the contract.

Until the handover of rule to the Wittelsbacher in 1760, Pruppach was Wolfsteiner area.

With the redistribution of the municipalities in Bavaria from 1815, Pruppach became a district of the municipality of Oberhembach , which merged with some others on October 1, 1970 to form the municipality of Pyrbaum.

The charcoal burning was in operation until the 1980s . Of the former 16 agricultural properties, three were still in operation in 2002. Many residents commute to Nuremberg, 20 km away .
