Oberhembach is a district of Markt Pyrbaum in the Neumarkt district in Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

The village is surrounded by forest areas, just under 3 kilometers northwest of Pyrbaum. The Hembach , a tributary of the Rednitz flows through it. In the village it is fed from the right by two nameless streams. The NM 17 district road runs through Oberhembach to Pyrbaum.

The first mention of it comes from 1350. At that time the von Rindsmaul , a Nuremberg bourgeois family, had sold the village "Hennenbach" to the Wolfsteiner relatives , as did Pyrbaum in 1278.

In 1815 the municipality of Oberhembach was founded with the districts Asbach , Birkenlach , Neuhof , Oberhembach and Pruppach . On October 1, 1970, it was incorporated into the Pyrbaum market.
