The Burgstall Pruppach is located in the area of Pruppach , today a district of the Upper Palatinate market Pyrbaum in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate of Bavaria . The ring wall is located directly above the southeast edge of Pruppach in the Burgstall forest department. The facility is listed with the monument number D-3-6733-0002 as a medieval castle stables in the Bavarian Monument Atlas. The Burgstall is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the remains of a Celtic hill .

On the northwest end of a wooded ridge, a section trench with an inner wall separates a flat area of ​​about 73 × 55 m from the backland. The trench turns inward at the southwest corner, then follows the upper slope edge to the top, bypasses it and then skips. In the southwest the wall only bends for a short distance. There is an approx. 1 m high step along the northeast side.

history

Pruppach was the seat of the local noble family of the Lords of Pruppach, so a Konrad von Bruggebach is called here in 1265 . A Nyclas von Prupperch appeared in 1348 as a ministerial of the Wolfsteiner as district judge of Hirschberg , whereby on January 28, 1268 Wolfsteiner service men were named to Pruppach and Pruppach was still under the rule of the Wolfsteiner in the 18th century. A branch of the Wolfsteiner had a center of their property in the neighboring Pyrbaum .
