The system is recorded in the BayernAtlas under the file number D-3-6735-0067 as an archaeological ground monument.
description
Where the Kapellenberg begins to drop to the south, there is an approximately 110 m long wall, which bends on both sides down the slope and disappears towards the road at the valley floor. The wall is up to 0.6 m high and up to 6 m wide, there is no trench. In the Bavaria Atlas, the ring wall is referred to as a “settlement with leveled ramparts” as well as prehistoric times. A little outside of Harenzhofen lies a group of burial mounds in a north-easterly direction 450 m from the town center, where finds from the Hallstatt period were made. It is not known whether these graves were related to the Wallsiedlung.
