The castle was built in the 12th century and came under the house contract of Pavia to the Palatinate in 1329 . From 1345 to 1366 Albrecht IV was. The site is freely accessible all year round. There are four marked hiking trails in the immediate vicinity. It can be reached on foot in half an hour from the Pölling stop.
