The Wappersdorf Castle is a castle in the formerly independent Upper Palatinate municipality Wappersdorf , now a district of the municipality Mulhouse in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

history

In a foundation letter from Seligenporten monastery in 1249, a Rudolf von Wepretsdorf is named. After that, ministerials from the Wolfensteiners can be found here , such as the Hofer von Hofen ; so in 1334 Heinrich der Hofer and his landlady Elsbet are called on the Wappersdorf estate, and in 1438 an Ulrich Hofer von Hofen is still sitting here. Shortly afterwards the Reicharter must have acquired the seat, in 1488 Ulrich and in 1518 Albrecht Reicharter are named as owners. Christof Reicharter followed in 1550 and David Reicharter von Bechtal until 1619. Probably in connection with the change of denomination to LutheranismWolfgang Reicharter sold his local property on October 11, 1618 to Wilhelm Ehrenreiter, monastery judge of Seligenporten. This was followed by his son Wolf Wilhelm in 1628 and, after his death in 1630, his brothers-in-law Theodor Hertesheim and Christoph Gabriel Gugel. He died of the plague in 1634 and his share was sold to D (T) unzler, Pfaffenhofen nurse . Christoph Kastner bought the seat of Wappersdorf from his heirs in 1698 and Franz Xaver Steger from him again in 1719. He sold it in 1740 to Anton Rohrer zu Pollanten and in 1747 to Johann Karl von Freistatt. Under his son Lukas Karl, the freedom of the local people was withdrawn in 1808 and Wappersdorf became an "insignificant seat", consisting of the castle and two quarter courtyards.

Construction

The existing castle building was built at the end of the 17th century. It is a two-storey hipped roof building , above the entrance portal there is a coat of arms.
