The Postal Bergheim means a Outbound medieval hilltop castle in the deserted village of Bergheim in the military training area Hohenfels in the Upper Palatinate municipality Hohenfels in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . It lies on a ridge running from the southeast to the confluence of the Lauterach and the Vils .

The now abandoned Romanesque church of St. Aegid was built in the inner courtyard of the castle stable . The church ruin was entered in the Bavarian Monument List (D-3-73-134-41) in 2010, the Bergheim Castle Stable is recognized as a ground monument (D-3-6737-0117).

An oval layout can still be seen on the original cadastre ; their size at the outer edge of the trench was 130 m to the east-west and 100 m to the north-south. The former wall is largely excavated and transformed into a field. The still preserved trench is 2-3 m deep and carved into the rock on the west side.

The Perkheimers , who were mentioned several times in the last third of the 12th century, lived at the castle .
