Grünstein Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The abandoned Grünstein Castle was located in Wissing , today part of the Upper Palatinate municipality of Seubersdorf in the Upper Palatinate in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate . It was 450 m southwest of the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

history

In the registers of the Landsassen of the Neumarkt Mayor's Office from 1518, a Hans Reisselt with a seat in Wissing, called Grünstein, is named, who was previously held by a Hans Leitner. The history of Grünstein then follows the history of Hofmark Ittelhofen , also in 1551 Grünstein is still mentioned by the noble seats in the Neumarkt district office. The Lords of Ittelhofen name themselves after their seat in Wissing-Grünstein, for example Peter Apian von Grünstein in 1541. Baron Löwenthal later reported, “The Grünstein Castle is in danger of collapsing. The subjects that can be donated and valid, and the earnings are offset against the Hofmark Ittlhofen. "

In 1783 the Counts of Holnstein bought Grünstein. They had the castle (Unterdorf street opposite Burgstall Burg Mauer ) and the brewery demolished, the castle chapel has been preserved in an inn.
