history

As grave finds show, the area around Ittelhofen was already settled in prehistoric times. The place Uetelenhouen was first mentioned in a document in 1109 in the foundation property of the Weißenohe monastery .

In 1146 and 1205 Ittelhofen was listed with the spelling Utelnhouin under the ownership of the Weißenohe monastery. Around 1205, Rudger von Utilhoven was mentioned as the first nobleman . These nobles were servants of the Lords of Holnstein. Later the village belonged to the fiefdom of the Heidecker, who were wealthy in this area.

Heinrich von Ittelhofen (1274) and the brothers Konrad (1285) and Hiltebrand de Utelhouen (1295) followed as further residents of the Hofmark , which was fortified like a castle . Later the village belonged to the feudal area of the Heidecker, who were wealthy in this area. Already in 1326 the place was in the office of Holnstein, whereby the nobles are already called Ittelhofer .

Because of their relationship with the famous family of the Schweppermann family , they also came into possession of the Deining estate . Because of the religious confusion - the aristocratic family did not want to accept the new Lutheran doctrine - they sold their property and emigrated to Austria. Before that they donated the chapel in Ittelhofen.

Their noble seat was then lent to other gentlemen - according to the land register records to such important personalities as the Upper Palatinate chief forest and hunter Vinzenz von Würzburg. Around 1480, the Ingolstadt mathematics professor and imperial astronomer Peter Apian bought the Ittelhofen headquarters. He was the father of Philipp Apian , who made the famous Baierische Landtafeln , the first cartographic recordings of Bavaria.

His brother Carolus Apianus lived in Ittelhofen . He died on March 9, 1600, a tombstone in the parish church of St. Jakob commemorates him. His widow Ursula , née Kastner , sold Ittelhofen in 1608 to a Christoph Kastner . In 1656 Hans Reinhard Grüner was the owner of Ittelhofen, later his widow Anna Maria until 1728. Maximilian Cajetan Notthracht , born around 1705 , Baron von Weißenstein was then owner of Hofmark Ittelhofen. In 1730 the castle chapel was enlarged by Anna Maria Grüner von Grünstein . In 1783 the Counts of Holnstein had the manorial castle demolished.

In 1846 Ittelhofen belonged to the Royal District Court of Beilngries .

On July 1, 1976 Ittelhofen was incorporated into Seubersdorf.
