Wissing is a district of Seubersdorf in the Upper Palatinate , a municipality in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate Jura in the Upper Palatinate.

history

Wissing, an old parish village, is one of the oldest places in the Seubersdorf community. Ulrich von Wissing was first mentioned in writing in 1130 .

As servants on imperial property once subordinate to the influential Habsberg dynasty, the Wissinger appeared in the course of the 13th century as vassals of the Eichstätter church.

The castle wall still indicates the manorial residences today. Two other noble residences were Schellenstein Castle and Grünstein Castle . The Schellenstein seat was described as derelict as early as 1526. The history of the Grünstein - owners of the Landsassengut Ittelhofen - was for a long time identical to Ittelhofen .

In the Middle Ages, Wissing was divided into two parts : Wizzingen (upper village) and Niederthal (lower village). Until 1803 the place had two churches, the parish church and the Johanneskirche . The latter was sold in 1807 and converted into an inn.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Wissing (with the district Wachtlhof) was incorporated into Seubersdorf in the Upper Palatinate.

Parish Church of the Assumption

Located in the Wissinger Oberdorf and initially dedicated to St. Michael was dedicated to the main seat in the 15th century. The change took place, as can be deduced from the Eichstätter visitation protocols, in the period after 1458 and before 1480. The mother of God Mary was chosen to be the patron saint of the new parish church. Since then, the parish fair in Wissing has been celebrated on the Assumption Day.

In 1787 the parish church was restored. A new construction of the parish church was planned for the years 1966/1967. The demolition work began on April 18, 1966. The church tower was to be preserved and was once again judged to be good by experts on April 25th.

Just five hours after the appraisal, the tower collapsed, deprived of its supporting extension. Fortunately, no one was injured. However, the main altar was destroyed. The two side altars had been moved to the rectory in good time. These side altars are now in the Litzlohe church. The new parish church was consecrated on November 5th, 1967.

Wissinger emergency money

During the First World War there was a shortage of non-ferrous and precious metals. Therefore, the government confiscated the loose change in order to melt it down. In return, the municipalities were given the right to have replacement brands minted themselves. Only a few communities, including Wissing and Schnufenhofen, made use of it. In 1917, the municipality of Wissing put 5-, 10- and 50-pfennig pieces into circulation. Nowadays this emergency money is a real rarity with a high collectible value.
