Schnufenhofen ( Bavarian : Schnuhof ) is a district of Seubersdorf in the Upper Palatinate , a municipality in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate Jura in the Upper Palatinate.

history

Schnufenhofen was first mentioned in writing in 1180 in the famous Codex Falkensteinensis as Snovinhovin , but like all surrounding places it is certainly much older.

The Plankstetten monastery owned a farm in Schnufenhofen in 1202. In the year 1291 R. Snovenhover is mentioned as a citizen of Neumarkt. Around the year 1300 the Puttersberg family is mentioned on the Berglershof.

In 1326 was Snofenhofen in the ducal Urbar listed and now managed by the Office area Holnstein. By the end of the 18th century, 28 of the 29 properties in Schnufenhofen were under the Holnstein Authority. Family members of the famous Schweppermann dynasty (1377 and 1409 can also be found in Schnufenhofen) bore the nickname of the Berger .

In 1542 the Reformation was introduced , from 1600 a parish with its own pastor until the beginning of the re-Catholicization in 1626. In 1631 Count Tilly Holnstein took over and tried to find his own pastor for the early mass in Schnufenhofen. A school in Schnufenhofen is mentioned for the first time in 1688. In 1796 the battle between the French and Austrians also took place in the municipality.

From 1808 Schnufenhofen was first part of the tax district due to the Edict of Montgelas , then in 1811 to the rural community of Großalfalterbach . In 1818 Schnufenhofen became a political municipality again. Schnufenhofen retained this status until it was incorporated into the current larger municipality of Seubersdorf.

The school was rebuilt in 1835 and 1953. In 1837, Schnufenhofen and the Beilngries regional court became part of the new Central Franconian administrative region. On the afternoon of August 3, 1859, the entire north-western part of Schnufenhofen, including the schoolhouse, burned down in a fire disaster.

In 1864 the German educational reformer Ludwig Auer became a teacher in Schnufenhofen and founded the Catholic Educational Association.

In 1884 the Schnufenhofen volunteer fire brigade was founded in the Gasthaus Weigl. In 1926 Schnufenhofen moved from the Beilngries district office to the Parsberg district office. In 1958 a more modern water pipe is built. In 1961 the new construction of the road from Seubersdorf to Holnstein begins, in 1964 the land consolidation is carried out in Schnufenhofen .

On July 1, 1976 Schnufenhofen is incorporated and part of the Seubersdorf municipality.

Filial church of St. Boniface

The branch church is an early Gothic complex with a massive choir tower. The fire in 1859 seriously damaged the tower and roof. The St. Boniface Church got its current size with the expansion in 1887. The ceiling paintings, which were formerly painted over, were exposed again during an interior renovation in 1953.

Village house

The village house in Schnufenhofen was built in 2000.

Carnival in Schnufenhofen

Schnufenhofen is a carnival stronghold in the Neumarkt district.

The Katzenfliacha - meaning "cat fliers" - owe their name to their adventurous ancestors. They wanted to know whether a cat really lands on its feet after every jump off a building and whether it survives it.
