Geographical location

The municipality is located in the region of southeast Upper Bavaria in the Alpine foothills in the middle of the tertiary hill country between the valleys of the Vils in the north and the Isen in the south. Buchbach borders directly on the districts of Erding and Landshut . The state capital Munich is around 63 km away.

Until the church is planted

Buchbach was mentioned in a document for the first time in 788. From 928 to the secularization of 1803, with a brief interruption from 1266 to 1275 ( Duchy of Bavaria ), the place Buchbach belonged to the archbishopric of Salzburg , and formed a closed Hofmark within the Etter , which was abolished in 1803 . CSU politician Thomas Einwang junior has been the first mayor since May 1, 2008 . In the 2008 local elections , he was put up as a candidate by the CSU Buchbach and the voters' group Wahlvorschlag Ranoldsberg (WVR) and prevailed against an opposing candidate with 59.6%. In 2014 he ran again for CSU / WVR and received 94.9% of the votes without an opponent. Before the 2020 election , the Buchbacher CSU local board spoke out against a renewed nomination of Einwangs. Einwang competed for the WVR and received 80.3% of the votes without opposing candidates.

  • Parish Church of Saint James the Elder. Domed central building in baroque style, new building 1764-around 1770 according to the plans of the Salzburg architect Wolfgang Hagenauer .
  • Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary Ranoldsberg. The first church building dates back to the end of the 13th century. In 1507, the late Gothic successor building was consecrated , which was deemed necessary to provide more space for the growing stream of pilgrims. From 1960 to 1999 there was a branch of the world-famous tape recorder manufacturer Uher in Buchbach . First production took place in the old gym, then in the old school. In 1966, a new building was opened that employed up to 300 people. From the 1970s, Japanese competition plunged the German consumer electronics industry into a serious crisis , including Uher, which had to close its plants one after the other. The last was the Buchbach plant, which was closed in 1999. The Uherstrasse near the former factory site is still a reminder today.
