Walkersaich is a district of the municipality of Schwindegg and a district in the Upper Bavarian district of Mühldorf am Inn . It was the capital of the former municipality Walker Aich.

geography

The village is 3 km east of Schwindegg at the confluence of the Walkersaicher Mühlbach in the Isen .

history

As early as 963, the castle and Hofmark were mentioned in a document as "Eihhi". The ensemble of the former Hofmark Walkersaich is on the Bavarian list of monuments . It encompasses the center of the small church village Walkersaich and was the seat of the noble families of the Barons von Puech zu Walkersaich and zum Thurn. It has been owned by the Mooser family since 1761. The mighty hipped roof building from 1602 dominates the townscape together with the church. The Catholic Church of St. Maria, St. Andreas and St. Sigismund was built at the end of the 15th century. Modifications and extensions took place in 1690, 1750 and 1836. The west tower in its present form dates from the 18th century. In the left side chapel there is the so-called "Hassenhammer Schimmel", a wooden sculpture that depicts St. Martin. After an old chapel was demolished, it was kept in a chamber for over a century and a half until it was opened to the public again. With the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818, Walkersaich became an independent municipality with the following districts:
