Geographical location

Ampfing is located in the region of southeast Upper Bavaria in the Isental around 24 km east of Dorfen , nine kilometers west of Mühldorf , six kilometers north of Waldkraiburg and 72 km east of the state capital Munich .

history

The first more than a thousand years

The place was first mentioned in 788 in the Notitia Arnonis . The place gained fame through the battle between Ludwig the Bavarian and Frederick the Beautiful , long known as the Battle of Ampfing , in which the crown of the Holy Roman Empire was decided on the battlefield.

The parish was incorporated into the Augustinian canons of Au am Inn from 1220 to 1802. Ampfing belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Neumarkt Regional Court. However, the Archbishopric of Salzburg exercised lower jurisdiction over its subjects in this area until 1803 through the chairmanship of Ampfing .

From the 19th century

Ampfing became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818. Towards the end of the Second World War there were various forced labor camps and the concentration camp external command Mühldorf - Waldlager V / VI of the concentration camp Dachau 0 and was the second largest concentration camp of the so-called camp group Mühldorf .

The Salmanskirchen, incorporated in 1978, was one of the main residences of the noble and knight dynasty of the Pfaffing , who built Salmanskirchen Castle in 1342.Only the church (which was then consecrated by the Pfaffinger in honor of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist ) and the rectory remain of this castle .   • Parish church St. Stephanus in Stefanskirchen. The originally Gothic church ( following a Romanesque predecessor) was converted to Baroque style in the 18th century , expanded in 1882–1887 and redesigned in the neo-Gothic style (regothic). The last measure determines the appearance to this day.

Industrial monument

In 1998, the industrial monument in Ampfing was opened near the train station. The memorial is intended to illustrate the community's relationship to energy generation, which has been reflected since 1979 by the drill bit in the coat of arms. Four exhibits are part of the industrial monument:

  • Steam engine : A steam engine stood in the same place from 1923 to 1987 and generated energy for a sawmill. The machine on display was built in 1954 and has been in Ampfing since 1970.
  • Wind turbine : From 1930 to 1989 the wind turbine was part of a wind well in the wind gust part of the municipality .
  • Pumpenbock : Between 1954 and 1997, Mobil Oil AG produced a total of 1.4 billion m³ of natural gas and 551,000 t of crude oil on Ampfinger Boden. After the end of the promotion, Mobil Oil donated the pump jack erected here to the community.
  • Photovoltaic system : There are 48 solar modules on the glass pavilion, each with a peak output of 100 W p . The around 5,000 kWh gained per year are fed directly into the local supply network.

Way of the Cross in Isental

In 2004 the Way of the Cross, which was funded by the LEADER initiative and which leads from Ampfing to the Palmberg Church, was set up. Sculptor Ernst Lechner depicted the suffering of Jesus in 14 steles made of Jura marble .
