history

Until the church is planted

Neumarkt was on August 14, 1269 by the Lower Bavarian Duke Heinrich the XIII. founded. From 1366 Neumarkt had a market court with extensive proprietary rights. In 1369, the Duke of Landshut had the seat of the district judge and nurse set up for the new district court district of Neumarkt in what would later become Adlstein Castle. The eponymous Benedictine monastery of St. Veit , which a closed here Hofmark owned, was founded in 1121 by Noble Dietmar von Lungau first in nearby Elsenbach and moved to the Vitus mountain over Rott 1171, in 1802 took place the resolution . Attractions

The regular layout of the 13th century is dominated by the elongated market square, which is cordoned off on both sides by gates. Several residential buildings can be assigned to the Inn-Salzach style . The old parish church of St. John the Baptist from the second half of the 15th century is located here. A little off the market square is the St. Vitus Monastery , a former Benedictine monastery and today's retirement home. The former monastery church is now the parish church. In a concentration camp cemetery outside the village on the B 299 in the direction of Mühldorf , 392 prisoners are buried who perished during forced labor in an aircraft factory in sub-camps in the Mühldorf district , as reminded by plaques at the cemetery gate.

Neumarkt-Sankt Veit is located about 85 kilometers east of the state capital Munich and 35 kilometers southeast of Landshut directly on the B 299, which is used by over 11,000 vehicles .
