history

Tennis courts at the Langenau sports complex

The first sports field of SC Eltersdorf, which was founded in 1926 as a workers gymnastics and sports club , has been located a few hundred meters northwest of today's facility since 1932, instead of today's Fürth / Erlangen motorway junction . The club also maintained a tournament area for cycling races and a natural swimming pool at the Langenaugraben, which was expanded in 1949 and rises in the corridor of the same name northeast of Eltersdorf. In 1958, the construction of a section of the Federal Motorway 3 required the relocation of the old sports field, initially to an emergency site on the Regnitzgrund west of the town. In the course of the construction of the motorway, the course of the Langenau trench was relocated, which, in addition to the swimming pool, also fed the Brücklesweiher further south-east with water. The water, which has been used for fish farming since the 16th century at the latest, was backfilled. The then independent community of Eltersdorf and the sports club built the new clubhouse and sports field in its place from 1959. The inauguration took place on June 16, 1961.

From 1965 there was again a natural swimming pool north of the site, which existed until 1975 and was then also backfilled. In 1974 there was an expansion to include three tennis courts. In 1983 and 1984 the club built a gym. In the 1990s, four bowling alleys , additional soccer fields, a gymnastics hall and four additional tennis courts were built. There is also a sports restaurant there.

The grandstands of the main field currently offer space for around 2,500 spectators and meet the requirements for the regional league in this regard. Other construction work still needs to be done. The requirements for a regional league stadium include 100 covered seats, a covered press and honorary stand as well as a spatially separated and fenced block for guest fans with at least 200 seats, which must have its own sanitary facilities, catering facilities and its own access.

Special games

On May 9, 2012, the final of the Bavarian Toto Cup against SpVgg Unterhaching took place there in front of 2,000 spectators . On May 16, 2012, the game for a Bavarian team's second place in the DFB Cup between SC Eltersdorf and SV Wacker Burghausen took place at the Langenau sports complex in front of 1,400 spectators .
