Florian Rudy (born January 7, 1989 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a former German soccer player . He played on the offensive primarily as a center forward .

Career

Florian Rudy was born in Villingen-Schwenningen and grew up with four siblings in nearby Dietingen in the Rottweil district . His brother Sebastian , who is one year younger than him, first played in the Bundesliga for TSG Hoffenheim and from the 2017/18 season for FC Bayern Munich. In his youth, in addition to tennis and ice hockey , Rudy played with his brother for the local clubs FC Dietingen and SV Zimmer , before both of them switched to the youth department of VfB Stuttgart as C-youths . In 2004 Florian Rudy was sorted out there and switched to the B youth team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern , while Sebastian prevailed in Stuttgart over the next few years. Rudy lived with his grandparents in Kaiserslautern for a year. In 2005, living with host parents, he moved to TSG Hoffenheim's B-Youth, where he scored numerous goals, and finally played with the A-Youth in the A-Juniors' Bundesliga in the 2006/07 season . There he was only used three times, which is why he moved to the A-youth of Karlsruher SC for the 2007/08 season. There he played 18 games and scored four goals. At the same time, he trained as a financial assistant in Karlsruhe.

In the summer of 2008 he was signed by the fifth-class league club FC 08 Villingen and became a regular player straight away. In three and a half years he played 103 games and scored 31 goals. In 2009 he won the Südbadischer Pokal and qualified for the DFB Cup , where the Villingen team met FC St. Pauli and were eliminated 2-0 after extra time in the first round. In his last full season in 2011, he achieved a notable third place with the club.

In the winter break 2011/12 Rudy moved to the third division SpVgg Unterhaching . There he made his debut on February 4, 2012, the 24th matchday of the third division season 2011/12 in the game against Chemnitzer FC (1: 5), when he was substituted on for Ömer Kanca at half time . In total, he came to six appearances in the second half of the season. He was praised by his trainer Heiko Herrlich in preparation for the following season; after his resignation, however, Rudy only played for the second team in the fifth-class Bayernliga . At the end of January 2013 Rudy was loaned to the regional league club SV Heimstetten until the end of the season. After five goals in 16 games, he was finally signed for the 2013/14 season. In this season, however, he remained goalless.

Now without a club, Rudy kept fit in the Hoffenheim U23 from summer 2014 and completed several test training sessions for teams in the American Major League Soccer and North American Soccer League . His possible move to New York Cosmos was imminent, but failed. Then he ended his career at the age of 26, as he had planned in the event of no breakthrough. Since October 2015, Rudy has been studying sports business management at the Düsseldorf IST University for Management and lives in Neckargemünd . In addition, he spent six months in the U19 of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim under Julian Nagelsmann .
