Attendees
For the 2007/08 Süper Lig, the 15 clubs remaining from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . The climbers were the first and second place in the 2nd league Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ , Istanbul BB , and Kasımpaşa Istanbul as the playoff winner. While Kasımpaşa returned after 43 years, the rise meant the first league season in the club's history for Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ and Istanbul BB.

Championship decision
Galatasaray Istanbul secured the championship for the 17th time and became record champions together with Fenerbahçe Istanbul . After the bad performance in the previous season, Galatasaray wanted to turn the team inside out, so the red and yellow hired the former gala coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp . For the new team Galatasaray signed among others the Schalke Lincoln and Shabani Nonda . Fenerbahçe also made a big transfer from Real Madrid with Roberto Carlos .
The season opened Fener Away against the newly promoted Istanbul BB and surprisingly lost with 2: 1. Galatasaray start on matchday 1 with a 4-0 win against Çaykur Rizespor . After five match days, Galatasaray were in first place with 13 points, followed by Sivasspor with 12 points. Fenerbahçe was eighth at the time. On the 15th matchday it came to the derby Fenerbahçe against Galatasaray. Up until this day of the match Gala was unbeaten, making a win even more important for Fener . Fenerbahçe defeated Galatasaray 2-0 and were one point behind Galatasaray in third place. The surprise team Sivasspor took over the championship lead on this match day and were unofficially autumn champions two weeks later.
During the weekend of the 29th match day, Galatasaray reported that Karl-Heinz Feldkamp had resigned from his position as head coach with immediate effect after insurmountable differences of opinion with the Galatasaray management. Thus the Lions were without a coach 6 weeks before the end of the season. The assistant coach Cevat Güler took over the team until the summer. With him as technical director, Galatasaray did not lose any of its games in the league.
Fener led the league two game days before the end of the season . Now there was another derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in the Ali Sami Yen Stadium . Both teams went into the game with 70 points each. Gala won the game and came first. Galatasaray could now become champions on their own if they won at least one game and ended a game with a draw. The pursuers Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor, who met Galatasaray a week later, had a realistic chance. For Beşiktaş, it was all about qualifying for the UEFA Champions League .
On the penultimate matchday, all football fans looked to Sivas. Sivasspor played against Galatasaray. Fenerbahçe played at home and Beşiktaş away at the same time. Fener and Beşiktaş did their duty and won their games. In Sivas the result went back and forth. After 90 minutes it was 5: 3 for Galatasaray. So the red and yellow needed one point to win the championship. Last week Gala made the championship title perfect with a 2-0 win.
Relegation battle
In purely mathematical terms, every team could relegate up to 6th place on matchday 30. Kasımpaşa Istanbul was the first relegated, despite an increase in performance in the second half of the season and a surprising win against Galatasaray Istanbul, the newcomer got back into the Asya 1. Lig . On the 32nd matchday Çaykur Rizespor had to say goodbye after 5 years in the Süper Lig, with a 3-0 defeat against Kayserispor it was mathematically still possible, but not due to the direct comparison with Gençlerbirliği Ankara and Konyaspor . Vestel Manisaspor had to admit defeat on the penultimate match day as the last relegated. In the game against Kasimpasaspor, the black and whites lost 2-1 and could no longer reach the safe shore.
All three teams had sacked their coaches twice during the season. Giray Bulak and Yılmaz Vural had to leave Manisaspor , followed by Levent Eriş . In Rize, Rıza Çalımbay took over the team at the beginning of the season. Then Safet Susic returned, but he resigned after a short time, followed by Erdoğan Arıca . With the newcomer and relegated Kasimpasa Ömer Özcan was dismissed as successor Werner Lorant came back to Turkey . Lorant lost all of his six games with the team and was fired. Former Galatasaray player Uğur Tütüneker became his legacy .
