Umut Bulut (born March 15, 1983 in Yeşilhisar in the Kayseri province ) is a Turkish football player who has been under contract with Yeni Malatyaspor since January 2020 .
Career
In the club
In the summer of 2001 Umut Bulut received his first professional contract with the Turkish first division club MKE Ankaragücü . He made his professional debut at the age of 19 in the Süper Lig on March 30, 2002 against Gaziantepspor . The striker was only able to prevail after playing on loan for third division club Inegölspor . Umut Bulut was able to rank among the top 10 goalscorers in the Süper Lig for the first time in the 2005/06 season with 16 goals.
Trabzonspor has been watching the striker with a strong header for a long time and signed him for the 2006/07 season for a transfer fee of 3 million euros and he received a four-year contract there. Umut Bulut was supposed to replace the striker Fatih Tekke who had migrated to Russia . In February 2007 the striker scored his first hat trick in the league against Denizlispor and sealed Trabzon's 4-3 win with his last goal in the closing minutes. At the beginning of May 2010, Umut Bulut and his team won the Turkish Cup . He made a significant contribution to winning the cup title, as the striker not only made it 1-1 in the final, but also scored six goals on the way to the cup final in the previous eight cup games. Umut Bulut then extended his contract until 2013. On April 2, 2011 he finally scored his 100th goal against Konyaspor in the top Turkish league, the Süper Lig, making the striker the 33rd who had reached the hundredth goal mark. He felt a burden off his shoulders because the ongoing Turkish press reports about his upcoming 100th goal had put a lot of strain on him. In five years, Bulut scored well more than ten competitive goals for the Burgundy-Blue each season.
In the 2011/12 season, he moved to the French first division club FC Toulouse for € 3.8 million. This can increase by a further 500,000 euros if the TFC is among the top six in the table in May 2012. The striker signed a three-year contract there. In August 2011 he celebrated his first goal for the southern French in Ligue 1 against FCO Dijon in his second competitive appearance in a 2-0 win .
In the 2012/13 season Umut Bulut was loaned to Galatasaray Istanbul . He made his debut in the Turkish Supercup game against Fenerbahçe Istanbul , where the striker himself scored twice and was also awarded a penalty. In the first league game against Kasımpaşa Istanbul , Umut Bulut met again twice and quickly became an important player for the club. On May 5, 2013 he celebrated his first championship title.
On July 15, 2013, Umut Bulut was firmly committed by Galatasaray for a transfer fee of 2.7 million euros. The striker signed a three-year deal with an option for another season.
Shortly before the end of the summer transfer period 2016, Bulut moved to Kayserispor . He played 112 competitive games for Kayserispor in three and a half years and scored 26 goals. After his contract termination at the age of 36 in December 2019, Bulut moved to the East Anatolian club and Turkish first division club Yeni Malatyaspor , with whom he signed a one and a half year contract.
In the national team
On May 24, 2007 Bulut was appointed to the squad of the Turkish national team for the first time . There he made his game debut on June 5, 2007 in a friendly against Brazil . On June 2, 2012 in Lisbon, the striker celebrated his first goals in the Turkish A selection in a national test match against Portugal by scoring two goals in the 3-1 win.
