Tezcan Ozan (born January 1, 1949 ) is a former Turkish football player . He is associated with these clubs through activities for Bursaspor and Beşiktaş Istanbul . With his strike partner Sinan Alayoğlu , he formed a successful strike duo at Beşiktaş from 1974 to 1976.

Player career

society

Ozan began his professional football career in 1972 with the first division club Bursaspor . In his first season at this club, the 1972/73 season , he was substituted on by his coach Tomislav Kaloperović in the league game on September 24, 1972 and made his professional debut in this derby encounter against Eskişehirspor . After this encounter he came a few times as a substitute for use before Metin Oktay Kaloperović replaced as coach in February 1973 . Up until this coaching change, Oktay worked as Kaloperović's assistant coach and also worked for Bursaspor as a youth coach. Under Oktay, who was known for promoting young players, Ozan quickly carved out a regular place. Due to his performances in his first professional season, Ozan also rose to the Turkish U-21 international . Bursaspor started the new season with Oktay as coach. He, who was the goal protection king of the Turkish league several times, consistently used Ozan and also trained Ozan in terms of shooting technique and positional play. Although Oktay left the club after the 10th matchday, Ozan became one of the league's shooting stars. With 13 goals he was by far the most successful goalscorer of his team. He scored five of these goals in the Turkish Football Cup . With these five goals, he also scored all of his team's goals in this cup season and thus played a major role in ensuring that his club reached the cup final. In the cup final, which was played back and forth at the time, they met Fenerbahçe Istanbul . The first game Bursaspor won 1-0 at home while Ozan scored the goal. In the second leg, Bursaspor lost to Fenerbahçe and missed the first cup win in the club's history. Since Fenerbahçe became Turkish champions this season and qualified for the European Cup, Bursaspor took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup as a cup finalist . This successful season made Ozan one of the most sought-after players in the 1974 summer transfer period.

Finally, Ozan moved to the Istanbul club Beşiktaş for the 1974/75 season . Although Beşiktaş quickly came to an agreement with Ozan for a move, transfer negotiations with Bursaspor dragged on for nearly two weeks. Bursaspor demanded a transfer fee of 500,000 Turkish Lira , which Beşiktaş initially refused to pay. In the end, Beşiktaş agreed and signed Ozan. Ozan signed a two-year contract in which he would receive 200,000 lira himself. After the move, Ozan and his team took part in the pre-season TSYD tournament and won this tournament with his team. Ozan himself contributed two goals to this success. At his new club, he made the leap into the starting eleven straight away. In his first season he scored eight goals each in the league and in the Turkish Football Cup and was by far the most successful goalscorer of his team in both competitions. While his team ended the season on the rather disappointing 5th place in the league, the club won the Turkish Football Cup for the first time in its club history. In his second season for Beşiktaş, Ozan showed a similarly gratifying performance and was again the top scorer of his team. The trade press particularly emphasized his good interaction with his strike partner Sinan Alayoğlu . His team, however, experienced a mixed season. The season started with the German coach Horst Buhtz . This was dismissed after five match days and replaced by Gündüz Tekin Onay . With this trainer, Ozan experienced some problems. So he was suspended from the team squad and taken back a little later. The season ended the club in 11th place in the table and thus achieved one of the worst placements in the club's history. After this unsuccessful season, the club's management decided to continue working with Onay and to carry out a revision in the team squad according to his wishes. For the 1976/77 season , for example, the league rivals Adanaspor , the club Onay had previously coached, signed the striker duo Reşit Kaynak and Mehmet Akpınar . In addition, the striker Şaban Kartal came from Zonguldakspor . These three players immediately ousted Tezcan from the starting line-up and together scored 40 goals, while Ozan could only score one goal. Ozan was suspended several times during the season by Onay for indiscipline from the squad. Onay let Ozan play again and again, but Ozan couldn't convince in these bets. After Onay was replaced by İsmet Arıkan after the 18th matchday , this Ozan played in the encounter of the 19th matchday against Orduspor from the start. In this game, Ozan broke his right foot after a collision with opponent Orhan Kırıkçılar and was out for the rest of the season.

In the summer of 1977 Ozan extended his contract with Beşiktaş. Despite this contract extension, Ozan was loaned out to league rivals Orduspor for the coming season . Here İsmet Arıkan took over as coach and one of his first acts was to bring Ozan to his new club. Ozan played for Orduspor for a year and only played eight league games during that time, in which he could not convince. In the summer of 1978 he returned to Beşiktaş and was given for the coming season for a transfer fee of 15,000 lira to the third division club Karagümrük SK . A wealthy patron who wanted to restore the former traditional club to its old glory was found here. Karagümrük exhibited Ozan for sale after just one season. Ozan then negotiated with Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Ultimately, this change did not materialize, which is why Ozan played another year at Karagümrük. With Karagümrük Ozan reached in the season 1979/80 season by the runner-up to promotion to the 2nd Futbol Ligi .

National team

One year after joining the professional team at Bursaspor , Ozan played for the Turkish U-21 national team for the first time in June 1973 . About a year after this mission, he played his second and last game for the Turkish U-21s. In November 1974 he was also nominated for the Turkish national team and completed his first and only international match in a friendly against the Austrian national team .
