Career

Öztürk started club football in the youth department of his home club Merzifonspor . After playing here until 1994, he was accepted into the professional squad. He quickly made it into the starting line-up for the professionals and was noticed by clubs in the upper leagues because of his good performance. So the capital club PTT SK signed him in the summer of 1996. With this club Özütk missed relegation in the second league in the summer of 1998 , which is why Öztürk moved to the second division Batman Petrolspor for the next season . With this club Öztürk scored 16 goals in 34 league games, which is why he moved to the financially better positioned second division Siirt Jet-Pa Spor after just one season . With this club, a financially strong sponsor was found in the patron Fadıl Akgündüz and his group of companies Jet-Pa , who wanted to bring the club into the top Turkish league through large investments. At his new employer, Öztürk played with seasoned first division players and national players such as Evren Turhan , Erkan Avseren , Ceyhun Eriş , Hamza Hamzaoğlu , Timuçin Bayazıt and Alp Küçükvardar . Despite the great competition, Öztürk quickly established himself as a regular player. The second division season 1999/2000 ended the team behind Yimpaş Yozgatspor as runner-up and rose for the first time in the club's history in the highest Turkish league, in the 1st league . Öztürk scored three goals in the Turkish Football Cup this season and, along with 14 other players, was the top scorer in the Turkish Football Association's top scorer of this cup season. After promotion he played another season in the top Turkish league for Siirt JetPa Spor and left the club after it missed relegation at the end of the season.

After his departure from JetPa Spor Öztürk moved to the first division club Çaykur Rizespor . At this club, he immediately made the leap into the regular formations. After his club missed relegation at the end of the season, Öztürk stayed in the team. In the second division season 2002/03 Rizespor reached the runner-up and thus the direct promotion. Öztürk contributed 14 league goals to this success and formed the most successful storm duo of this second division season with his strike partner Yunus Altun , who was top scorer in the second division with 24 goals. Returning to the Süper Lig , Öztürk kept his regular place despite often changing coaches and played here as a regular player for another three years.

In the summer of 2006 Öztürk left Rizespor again and moved within he Süper Lig to the capital club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . With this club he experienced several coach changes in his two-year time. Despite this coaching change, Öztürk played almost all of his team's competitive games and was one of the most successful goalscorers on his team. In the 2006/07 season he and his team reached 6th place in the table and in the 2007/08 Turkish Football Cup the final. In the final they lost to Kayserispor on penalties 10:11 and missed the third final victory in the club's history.

For the 2008/09 season he returned to his old club Rizespor, which was now playing in the TFF 1st Lig . Here he only played one season and then left the club towards league competitor Karşıyaka SK . With this club he was in his first season with 13 league goals most successful goalscorer of his club. After falling short of expectations in his second season and only scoring one goal of the season, he left Karşıyaka in the summer of 2011.

After working for one year at Bozüyükspor and Yeni Malatyaspor , Öztürk ended his active career in summer 2013.
