Yunus Altun (born August 25, 1977 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player . He was two-time top scorer in the TFF 1st Lig in the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons . With his 153 second division he is one of the most successful second division hunters in general and one of the most successful of the second division times of the 1990s and 2000s in particular.

Career

society

Altun arrived in Istanbul district of Eyüp on the world. In the mid-1990s he took part in a selection tournament at Fenerbahçe Istanbul and was accepted into the club's youth department after this tournament. Here he played mainly for the reserve team Fenerbahçes, which was then called Fenerbahçe PAF takımı . With the reserve team, he often took part in the training of the professionals, in which mixed teams were set up with all players, which then played against each other in training games. In these training sessions, for example, Altun played as strike partner Aykut Kocamans , one of the most successful Turkish players of the 1990s. He also had to play against such internationally renowned defenders as Jes Høgh , Uche Okechukwu and Emre Aşık , which he said promoted his development.

Since at that time Fenerbahçe was strong in attack and attacking midfield, Altun was not offered a professional contract, which is why he moved to the second division Hatayspor in the summer of 1996 . At his new club he quickly made it into the starting line-up, where he played with Mehmet Kakil , a player legend from Hatayspors and one of the most successful second division hunters of recent years. In his first season for Hatayspor Altun scored eleven goals in 19 league games and formed one of the most successful striker duos in the second division in 1996/97 with Kakil, who had scored 13 league goals . Through these achievements, he rose to the Turkish U-21 international . In his second season he increased his previous year's performance and with his 14 goals in 29 league games became the most successful goalscorer of his club and one of the most successful goalscorer in the league.

Through his performance at Hatayspor, several financially strong clubs became aware of Altun and tried to sign him. Finally Altun came to an agreement with the then second division side Kayserispor and moved to the Central Anatolians. With his new employer, Altun immediately enjoyed the trust of his coach and formed the team's storm duo with Mustafa Kocabey . While Kocabey was the top scorer of the Türkiye Futbol 2nd Ligi with 31 league goals , which was then the second highest Turkish soccer class, Altun fell short of expectations with ten league goals . His team played for direct promotion to the first league throughout the season and only missed the safe promotion due to point losses in the last match days. Instead, they qualified for the play-offs of the league, in which the last climber was determined by knockout procedure . Here Kayserispor was eliminated in the quarterfinals by a 0-1 defeat against Yimpaş Yozgatspor and also missed the last chance for promotion. In the summer of 1999 Kocabey left Kayserispor, so Altun was largely the dominant player in the storm. He finished the season with 16 goals and became the most successful goalscorer. In the first division he drew attention for the first time during the game of the 16th matchday against Galatasaray Istanbul .

After Kayserispor's promotion failed in the summer of 2000, Altun left this club and moved to Kombassan Konyaspor within the league . At this club, the local industrial group Kombassan was the main sponsor and tried through large investments to bring the club into the 1st league. Altun immediately established himself as a regular at Konyaspor and was the club's most successful goalscorer with 16 goals in his first season. Konyaspor played for the league championship throughout the season and only missed the top of the table in the last few game days. After the direct promotion was so missed, the club also missed the indirect promotion via the play-offs of the league. In the 2001/02 season the concept of the league was changed and switched from a five-track league to a single-track league. In this season Altun gave his best performance of the season to date. He was the league's top scorer with 28 goals this season and was one of the most sought-after players of the 2001/02 transfer season.

Since Konyaspor missed promotion in the summer of 2001, Altun left the club. According to his own statements, he secretly signed a preliminary contract with the Istanbul top club Beşiktaş in the summer of 2002 . After a round of negotiations with the club's president Yıldırım Demirören , he signed the preliminary contract. He later spoke to the then club manager Sinan Engin . This discouraged Altun so much with his references to the strong attack by Beşiktaş with players like Pascal Nouma , İlhan Mansız and Ahmet Dursun that Altun annoyed his move to the Istanbul team canceled.

Immediately after the failed move to Beşiktaş, Altun hired the second division club Çaykur Rizespor . Altun, who had meanwhile established himself as a goalscorer, made it into the regular formation at his new club straight away. Already in his first season at Rizespor, the second division season 2002/03 , he reached the runner-up with his team and thus direct promotion. Altun contributed 24 league goals to this success, defended his top scorer title and formed the most successful striker duo of this second division season with his strike partner Okan Öztürk . Despite this success, Altun could not find an agreement for a further cooperation with his club and consequently left the club.

With the departure from Rizespor Altun moved to the Süper Lig and signed a three-year contract with the East Turkish club Elazığspor . At Elazığspor he prevailed at the start of the season as a regular player and with 17 league goals became one of the most successful goal scorers of the 2003/04 first division . Before this season, Altun was gradually treated by the trade press as a typical second division hunter who could not assert himself in the first division. With this season's performance, Altun proved the opposite. In the first division Altun drew attention to himself for the first time in the game of the 16th matchday against Galatasaray Istanbul . He scored both goals for his team in the 2-2 draw. In the game against his last club Çaykur Rizespor, which he had to leave due to a disagreement, he scored all four goals in the 4-5 defeat of his team. In addition, Altun scored a total of three goals in both games against Beşiktaş Istanbul , against the club where Altun was found not to be good enough. His club ended the season in last place in the table and thus rose to the TFF 1st Lig . Altun went down in club history as the most successful first division shooter with his 17 goals.

Since his club Elazığspor had missed relegation, Altun moved to Malatyaspor in the summer within the Süper Lig . Aykut Kocaman , the former striker with whom Altun had trained at Fenerbahçe, worked for this club . Altun only played the first half of the season for Malatyaspor and scored five league goals during that time. But because he did not live up to expectations and the coach of the first division club Diyarbakırspor Güvenç Kurtar , under whom Altun had worked successfully at Elazığspor a season earlier, wanted to bring him to his new club, Altun moved to Diyarbakırspor in spring 2005. At Diyarbakırspor he played in almost all games in the second half of the season, but remained without a goal.

In the summer of 2006 Altun left Diyarbakırspor again and moved to the TFF 1st Lig to Bursaspor . At this club he replaced the migrated striker Okan Yılmaz . He reached eleven goals this season by the end of the season and was involved in the second division championship and promotion as the most successful goalscorer of his team. Despite this success, the club and the players terminated the contract, which was still running for one year, by mutual agreement.

For the new season Altun moved to the second division Mardinspor and half a year later to Kocaelispor . Before the 2006/07 season, a patron took over the third division Etimesgut Şekerspor and tried by recruiting stars to lead the club into the TFF 1. Lig and then into the Süper Lig . For example, stars such as Sergen Yalçın , Ahmet Dursun , Tamer Tuna , Ahmet Yıldırım , Nuri Çolak and Evren Turhan were signed up to the capital's club. Altun was among the players who joined Şekerspor in the summer. After the promotion to the 1st Lig failed at the end of the season, the team was disbanded. So Altun left the club for the second division Karşıyaka SK . At Karşıyaka he fell short of expectations with four goals this season. With his team he made it to the play-off final and missed promotion here against Kasımpaşa Istanbul . For the new season he moved within the league to city rivals Bucaspor . At this club, he continued his old achievements and became the second most successful goalscorer of his team with eleven goals. By winning the runner-up, he rose to the Süper Lig for the third time in his career.

After this success Altun left Bucaspor and moved to the second division Mersin İdman Yurdu and moved to Karşıyaka SK six months later . In the summer of 2011 he moved to the TFF 2nd Lig to Altay Izmir . At this club he showed a convincing performance with 15 goals in 27 league games. Despite this performance, he moved to the end of the season within the league to Sarıyer SK . After half a year with Sarıyer, he returned to Altay. After half a season at Altay, he ended his active career in the summer of 2013.
