Bucaspor is a Turkish football club from Buca , a district that belongs to the city of Izmir .

history

Bucaspor is the sixth oldest soccer club in the city of Izmir after Karşıyaka SK , Altay İzmir , Altınordu Izmir , Göztepe Izmir and Izmirspor . The association was founded in 1928 by Süleyman Atakan, Bekir Eromat, Niyazi Gökgönül, Hasan Yalçınkaya and Niyazi Aktaş. The club colors have been blue and yellow since it was founded. Former President Yusuf Muhafız added the color red during his tenure, which was later removed.

When in 1984 the third highest professional league, today's TFF 2. Lig, was reintroduced and clubs were accepted into the league after meeting certain conditions, Bucaspor managed to enter Turkish professional football. The club opened football schools early on and thus laid the foundation for good youth development. With a 1-0 win against Edremitspor , Bucaspor made it to the 2nd Lig for the first time on May 6, 1990 , in today's TFF 1st Lig .

In its first second division season, the team won the first five games under the direction of Erkan Velioğlu . The team was nicknamed Fırtına ( dt : storm ). In 1994 and 1996, they just missed promotion to the Süper Lig . The 2008/09 season closed Bucaspor as the first of the TFF 2nd Lig and rose to the TFF 1st Lig .

In the following year the next ascent was achieved straight away. The 2009/10 season closed Bucaspor under the leadership of Özcan Kızıltan as runner-up and rose for the first time in the club's history in the top Turkish league, the Süper Lig . Thus, the team managed to march through from the third division to the first. Contrary to the previous club philosophy of carefully building a team from young players, a new coach, Bülent Uygun , was signed for the 2010/11 season . This turned the team upside down and had well-known players signed. Despite this investment, which the club had made according to Uygun's directive, the latter resigned on matchday five and became the coach of league rivals Eskişehirspor . For this change of office he received a fine of 200,000 TL (approx. € 95,000) from the association for breach of contract. Bucaspor meanwhile signed the veteran Samet Aybaba as Uygun's successor. Aybaba was unable to free the club from relegation positions for a long time. Aybaba resigned on April 14, 2011 and was replaced by his Kotrainer, Sait Karafırtınalar . This trainer had worked for Bucaspor as a junior or cot trainer for years and knew the club's philosophy. He was already active as a player for the club. Karafırtınalar took over the club in the relegation ranks and managed that the club fought relegation until the last matchday.

In the TFF-1. Lig season 2011/12 the team occupied twelfth place in the table. During the season, many young players such as Salih Uçan , Abdulkadir Özgen , Emre Güral and Efe Özarslan were helped to make their breakthroughs. At the end of the season, these players could be profitably sold to various Süper Lig clubs. For the 2012/13 season, the club started with a team that consisted mostly of young players, who in turn came almost exclusively from their own youth department.
