Samet Aybaba (born September 3, 1955 in Adana ) is a Turkish soccer coach and former soccer player.

Player career

He started his career at İskenderunspor . Aybaba then moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul in the 1977/78 season . He played there as a defender and midfielder. He played 334 games for Beşiktaş and scored 7 goals. He won two championships, a President's Cup , a Prime Minister's Cup and two trophies from the Turkish Sports Journalists' Association . He resigned after the end of the 1987/88 season.

Coaching career

He coached clubs such as MKE Ankaragücü , Kayseri Erciyesspor , Vanspor , Adana Demirspor , Gaziantepspor , Trabzonspor and BB Ankaraspor . Aybaba won the Turkish Cup twice as a coach with Trabzonspor against Gençlerbirliği Ankara .

Aybaba Beşiktaş Istanbul trained as head coach for the 2012/2013 season . At the end of the season he and his team took 3rd place. His contract was terminated on May 27, 2013 and Aybaba signed a one-year contract with Medical Park Antalyaspor for the 2013/14 season . After he slipped into the relegation region with this club in early March 2014, he resigned from his office.

For the 2014/15 season he was hired as sporting director for the second division side Adana Demirspor . For the season he took over the club as a coach. A few days after the announcement of this hiring as head coach, the agreement was dissolved again.

In November 2015 he took over the relegation club Eskişehirspor . With this he kept the chance of relegation until the last day of the game, but ultimately missed it. At the end of the season he left the club again.

From March 2017 he started working as head coach for the second division club Sivasspor .
