The Turkish champions in football was originally since 1924 voted, with the former Championships today by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) are not counted and denied, although they were organized by the TFF itself and official Championships. The first national championship was the Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası (German: Turkish Football Championship), which was held from 1924 to 1951. In this tournament, the champions of the respective regional leagues competed against each other in the knockout system in order to play off the Turkish champions. In 1937 the Millî Küme (German: National League) was introduced, the first nationwide league championship in Turkish football. The highest ranked teams in the three strongest regional leagues: Istanbul , Izmir and Ankara were eligible to participate . From 1940 to 1950 both championships existed at the same time, so in some years there were two national champions. The Millî Küme was held for the last time in 1950, a year before the Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası also ended. Between 1952 and 1956 there was no national championship in Turkish football.
Before the introduction of the Süper Lig , the current top division of Turkish football, the Turkish champions were played in the Federasyon Kupası (German: Association Cup ), which was created to enable the best Turkish team to participate in the European Cup . Then in 1959 with the Millî Lig (since 2001 Süper Lig , 1963-2001 1st Lig ), a professional league championship was introduced, which in the first year was played in two tracks with a final and still exists today.
So far, no reasons or other motives have been officially given by the TFF for the denial of the two former championships from before 1957. Inquiries from the clubs that have won titles in the two former championships have also remained unanswered. Only the championships from 1957 are currently counted.
