The 1st Lig 1975/76 was the 18th season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It began on September 6, 1975 with the game Fenerbahçe Istanbul against Zonguldakspor , which went 2-2 and ended on May 30, 1976. From January 11, 1976 to February 15, 1976 the season was interrupted by the winter break.
Trabzonspor finished the season as the Turkish champion and became the successor of Fenerbahçe Istanbul . For the first time in Turkish football history, an Anatolian club won the Turkish championship and broke through the hegemony of the Istanbul clubs Galatasaray , Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe. This season was also the first championship season for the great Trabzonspor team, better known as Karadeniz Fırtınası , which would dominate Turkish football for the next decade .
