Faruk Nafız Özak

Faruk Nafız Özak (born April 19, 1946 in Trabzon ) is a Turkish civil engineer, politician and Minister for Construction and Settlement ( Bayındırlık ve İskân Bakanı ).

Özak graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi (civil engineering). He played as a professional soccer player and team boss at Trabzonspor and received the Sportsman of the Year award ( Yılın Sporcusu ). He was a member of the executive committee and president of the association. Özak was a member of the supervisory board of YAPISUN AG. He is a founding member of the Association for the Development of Trabzone.

Faruk Nafız Özak was a member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP) for the Trabzon Province in the 22nd legislative period ( October 14, 2002 to July 22, 2007 ) of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey . He was also Minister for Construction and Settlement in the 59th Government ( I. Erdoğan Cabinet ) of the Republic of Turkey. Özak has been a member of the 2nd Erdoğan Cabinet of the AKP government under Erdoğan since August 29, 2007 , where he was again Minister for Construction and Settlement until May 1, 2009 and then Minister of State for Youth and Sport.

Özak is married and has two children.
