Abdüllatif Şener (* 1954 in the Gürün district , Sivas province ) is a Turkish politician . After being a member of the Welfare Party (RP) and Virtue Party (FP) from the Millî Görüsch movement for a long time , Şener has been a member of the secular CHP for Konya since June 2018 .

life and career

Şener is of Circassian descent. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University . Şener wrote his doctoral thesis at Gazi University . He became a Doçent at the same university . Şener was the deputy dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Gazi University. He was a professor in the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Hacettepe University.

Abdüllatif Şener is a founding member of Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP). He was a member of the Sivas Province in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in the 19th and 20th legislative periods . Şener was a member of the AKP in the 21st and 22nd legislative periods. He was finance minister in the 54th government ( "Erbakan's cabinet" ). He was also Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State in the 58th (" Gül Cabinet ") and 59th (" I. Erdoğan Cabinet ") government.

Since leaving the AKP, he has been considered one of the sharpest critics of the AKP. He was chairman of the Türkiye Partisi , which was founded on May 25, 2009 by 33 founding members. With the transfer of the independent MP Mehmet Yaşar Öztürk, the party was represented with one mandate in parliament.

Şener is married and has four children.
