Yaşar Yakış

Yaşar Yakış (* August 1938 in the district of Akcakoca , province of Düzce ) is a Turkish ambassador , politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Yakış graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University . After working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a while, Yakış graduated from the NATO Defense College in Rome . He was permanent representative to NATO and the United Nations (UN) as well as State Secretary of the Embassy in Damascus . Yakış founded the İSEDAK coordination office of the Economic and Trade Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in the State Planning Institute and was its president. He was ambassador to Riyadh and Cairo . Yaşar Yakış was Deputy State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has published a variety of articles on foreign policy at home and abroad.

Yaşar Yakış is a founding member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP). He was a Member of Parliament for the Düzce Province in the 22nd and 23rd legislative periods of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey . Furthermore, during these two legislative periods he was a member of the Turkey - EU mixed commission and president of the EU adjustment commission. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs in the 58th government ( Gül cabinet ).

Yaşar Yakış is married and has one child. He speaks French, English and Arabic.
