Hasan Saka

Hasan Hüsnü Saka (* 1885 in Trabzon ; † July 29, 1960 in İstanbul ) was a Turkish politician.

Life

Saka graduated from the Military Middle School (Askeri Rüştiyesi) and the High School (Mülkiye İdadisi) in Trabzon. He then graduated from the Mercan School in İstanbul. In 1908 he graduated from administrative school. He then worked in the Supreme Audit Office ( Divan-ı Muhasebat ). In 1909 he was sent by the state to France for training. In 1912 he graduated from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and began working again in the Court of Auditors. In April 1915 he was appointed to the Ministry of Finance and was a member of an audit committee. In October 1916, Saka became the regional director of economics for Eskişehir . On September 4, 1918, he began to work as an economics teacher at the administration school. Saka was elected to the last Ottoman parliament as a member of the Trabzon Province .

On January 28, 1921, Saka was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as a member of the Trabzon Province. On May 19, 1921, he represented the Finance Minister until April 22, 1922. On May 11, he was elected Deputy Minister of Economics. He was professor of economics at the Faculty of Political Science in Ankara.

Saka was a member of the Trabzon Province in the VI, VII and VIII legislative periods. On September 13, 1944 he was appointed Foreign Minister in the Second  Saraçoğlu government . In the Peker government he was also foreign minister until the cabinet was dissolved on September 9, 1947. On September 10, 1947, he was appointed prime minister. On June 10, 1948, he founded his second cabinet and on January 9, 1949, he retired as Prime Minister. Then he was parliamentary group leader of the CHP. In the IX. He was the last member of parliament for the province of Trabzon. After the elections in 1954, he withdrew from politics.

His grave is in the Zincirlikuyu cemetery.

According to the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey , Hakkı was a Freemason .
