Naim Talu

Mehmet Naim Talu (born July 22, 1919 in Istanbul ; † May 15, 1998 ibid) was a Turkish banker , politician and former Prime Minister of Turkey.

Life

Talu studied economics at Istanbul University in 1943 . After that he worked for a while at Sumerbank , a state-owned textile complex. In 1946 he moved to the Central Bank of Turkey . In 1967 he was appointed general manager of the bank. After the reorganization of the central bank in 1970, he became governor of this institution.

Naim Talu began his political career in 1971 when he was appointed Minister of Commerce in Nihat Erim's second cabinet . Between 1974 and 1976 he was a member of Akbank , one of the largest banks in Turkey.

Talu was married and had two daughters.
