Emin Fahrettin Özdilek

Emin Fahrettin Özdilek (* 1898 in Bursa ; † March 13, 1989 in Ankara ) was a Turkish general, politician and brief prime minister of Turkey .

After completing his basic training, he graduated from Edirne Military High School . In 1916 he entered the officer candidate school. On June 1, 1917, he was promoted to lieutenant. At the end of 1920 Özdilek took part in the Turkish Liberation War . From March 1, 1921, he led the III. Cavalry division in battles in the west in the Greco-Turkish War . Between 1925 and 1927 he finished his training at the war school and at the cavalry school. In 1933 he attended the military academy. On August 30, 1936, he was promoted to major. On November 6, 1936, he graduated from the academy with the rank of staff officer. Between 1936 and 1959 he worked in various positions within the Turkish armed forces . On August 30, 1959, he was appointed general.

After the military coup on May 27, 1960 , Özdilek became a member of the National Unity Committee . On June 9, Özdilek was appointed Minister of Defense in Cemal Gürsel's government. On November 21, 1960 he was appointed Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister. Since Prime Minister Cemal Gürsel became President on October 26, 1961, Özdilek took over the post of Prime Minister from October 27, 1961 to November 20, 1961. Between 1961 and 1980 Özdilek was a natural member of the Senate and President of the National Unity Group ( millî birlik grubu ). In the parliamentary elections of 1983 he was elected a member of the Konya Province for the Halkçı Parti in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey .

He was buried in the Cebeci municipal cemetery .
