Ilmenau College

The Ilmenau-Kolleg is a state institute of the second educational path in the Free State of Thuringia . The school owner of this facility is the Ilm district . The advanced training college offers adults with professional experience the opportunity to acquire the general higher education entrance qualification in three years of full-time training. The general Abitur certificate obtained at the Ilmenau-Kolleg entitles you to study all subject areas at universities and colleges throughout the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1994 to 2008, 580 students successfully passed the Abitur at the Ilmenau-Kolleg. Parent-independent and repayment-free BAföG can be applied for for financing .

  • Realschule or equivalent qualification
  • Completed vocational training or three years of employment
  • Successful participation in an aptitude test in German and mathematics

history

The college was founded on September 30, 1991 as the Thuringian college in Weimar, outpost in Ilmenau . The training of the first 51 students began in a building on Prof.-Deubel-Straße. Since April 7, 1993, the college has been an independent state educational institution sponsored by the Ilm district.

On September 13, 1993, school operations began in modern classrooms in the traditional school building on Rudolf-Breitscheid-Strasse. A year later, the first graduate class received their Abitur certificates. Further extensive renovation and modernization measures were carried out between 1996 and 2005.

The Ilmenau-Kolleg has a long-standing partnership with the Hessenkolleg Wetzlar. A cooperation agreement with the Technical University of Ilmenau has existed since September 2004 .

Support association

The friends' association is called Förderkreis Ilmenau-Kolleg and was founded in 1994. It has about 60 members. (As of 2014)
