AXIGEN is a commercial mail server with groupware extensions. It offers SMTP / ESMTP , IMAP , POP3 , webmail and mailing lists . AXIGEN is an alternative to Microsoft Exchange .

AXIGEN sees itself as a mail server that covers the requirements of SMEs through to ISP use . AXIGEN does not require any additional software and is provided in a complete package with wizard-controlled installation.
AXIGEN offers a multilingual Ajax webmail interface. The groupware and organizer functions (calendar, tasks, notes and journal) can be used both via the webmail interface and via a special Outlook connector. A separate web interface based on the XHTML standard is offered for mobile devices . In addition, the ActiveSync interface has been licensed by Microsoft to enable push e-mail .

The development of the AXIGEN Mail Server began in 2003. The first version was published in 2005. The product has also been available in Germany since 2006. According to GeCad, the product is used in over 10,000 companies with 6 million mailboxes worldwide.
