Selma Aliye Kavaf
Selma Aliye Kavaf (born Bostancı , born July 1, 1962 in Denizli ) is a Turkish politician of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi .
Life
Kavaf studied at Ankara University and then worked as a teacher. In 2007 she was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as a member of the Denizli constituency. As the successor to Nimet Çubukçu , she was Minister of State for Women and Family from May 1, 2009 to June 6, 2011.
Kavaf is married and has one child. In an interview with the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet in 2010, she stated that she “rejects” homosexuality . Homosexuality is a "disease" and "disorder" that needs treatment. At the time, the Turkish gay movement still publicly protested against it.
