Yuri Moschkin ( Russian Юрий Мошкин ; * 1931 ) is a former Soviet winter sportsman who was successful in ski jumping and Nordic combined .

Career

Moschkin made his international debut at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1954 in Falun . In the individual on the normal hill he reached 25th place with jumps on 70 and 72.5 meters.

At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he started in both disciplines, making him the first ever Soviet combined athlete at the Olympic Games. In jumping from the normal hill, he landed on 34th place. In the individual of the Nordic combined he won the jumping, but could only reach 13th place after a weak cross-country skiing .

In the Four Hills Tournament in 1956/57 he skipped jumping in Oberstdorf and only started in three of four competitions. In the first competition on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck , he ended up just beaten in 46th place, before jumping into the top 20 for the first time with 16th place in the New Year's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . After he also clearly landed in the top 20 in Bischofshofen with 12th place, he finished the tour with 555.8 points in 31st place overall.
