The New Year's Jumping is a ski jumping world cup event. It traditionally takes place on New Year's Day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and is the second competition in the annual Four Hills Tournament . The jumping takes place on the Olympic hill . The current hill record of 143.5 m was set in 2010 by Simon Ammann . The first New Year's ski jumping took place on January 1, 1922. So far it has only failed in the war years from 1942 to 1945.
