Marius Lindvik (born June 27, 1998 in Sørum ) is a Norwegian ski jumper . His greatest success was second place in the overall ranking of the Four Hills Tournament 2019/20 .

Career

Marius Lindvik starts for the Rælingen Skiklubb . He started for the first time on December 11th and 12th 2014 in Notodden in the FIS Cup , where he reached twelfth and tenth place. On September 19 and 20, 2015, Lindvik made its debut in the Continental Cup in two competitions in Oslo . Here he reached places 33 and 11 and also got his first Continental Cup points. Just three months later, Lindvik made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup and with a 32nd place narrowly missed the first World Cup points.

At the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , Lindvik won the silver medal behind Bor Pavlovčič in the individual competition . In the team competition he reached sixth place together with Anna Odine Strøm and Einar Lurås Oftebro . A week later he won the silver medal at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Râșnov together with Are Sumstad , Robin Pedersen and Halvor Egner Granerud . In the individual competition he finished 15th and in the mixed team competition together with Silje Opseth , Anna Odine Strøm and Halvor Egner Granerud fourth.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2017 in Park City , Utah in February 2017, Lindvik took 16th place in the individual competition, twelfth and last place in the team competition together with Fredrik Villumstad , Erik Johannessen and Jesper Ødegaard and in the mixed team competition together with Silje Opseth, Anna Odine Strøm and Fredrik Villumstad finished fourth.

On December 9, 2017, Lindvik surprisingly achieved third place at the Continental Cup competition in Whistler , British Columbia and thus a podium finish in the Continental Cup for the first time. On January 6, 2018, he won his first competition in the Continental Cup in Titisee-Neustadt . After further good performances with podium places in Titisee-Neustadt and Erzurum , he was nominated for the World Cup. In Zakopane (on January 27th and 28th 2018) he achieved his best World Cup results with eighth place in the individual and third place with the Norwegian team.

Shortly afterwards, Lindvik became Junior World Champion in singles and with the mixed team in Kandersteg in February 2018 . He also won the bronze medal in the team competition.

In the 2019/20 season he reached his first podium finish in third at the World Cup in Klingenthal. Previously, the second place after the competition in Ruka had been denied because of a non-compliant suit.

On January 1st, 2020 he set the hill record of 143.5 meters on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as part of the Four Hills Tournament , which the Swiss Simon Ammann had already set on January 1st, 2010. In addition, after another strong jump, he won the New Year's competition ahead of Karl Geiger . At the following World Cup in Innsbruck he took his second World Cup victory and took second place in the intermediate tour result.
