Fredrik Villumstad started in Notodden for the first time in the FIS Cup on December 11th and 12th, 2017 , where he finished 46th and 45th. After several other starts in the FIS Cup in Notodden in the following years, Villumstad made his debut on January 14th and 15th, 2017 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Continental Cup , where he finished 44th and 46th.
At the Junior World Championships 2017 in Park City , Utah , Villumstad narrowly missed the bronze medal with a fourth place in the mixed team competition together with Silje Opseth , Marius Lindvik and Anna Odine Strøm . In the individual competition he took eleventh place and with the junior team twelfth place. A year later he won the mixed title at the 2018 Junior World Championships in Kandersteg , Switzerland, together with Silje Opseth, Anna Odine Strøm and Marius Lindvik and also won the bronze medal with the male junior team. In the individual he was again eleventh. In 2019 he also took part in the Junior World Championships , which were held this time in Lahti , Finland . Together with Anders Ladehaug , Sander Vossan Eriksen and Thomas Aasen Markeng, he achieved second place in the junior team competition as well as in the mixed team competition with Ingebjørg Saglien Bråten , Silje Opseth and Thomas Aasen Markeng. In the individual competition, however, he was only 15th. At the Continental Cup jumping competition on March 3, 2019 in Rena Villumstad reached the podium for the first time with a second place behind teammate Marius Lindvik.
