Career

Granerud attends the sports-oriented secondary school WANG Toppidret. He was trained from 2002 to 2008 by Jan Bertzen, Per Christian Næsset and Tor Dølvik, 2008 to 2009 by Erlend Munkeby and Arild Sørensen, 2009 by Kristoffer Gaustad, 2009 to 2010 by Peter Sandell, 2010 to 2012 by Marius Huse and Kjetil Moen , 2012 to 2013 by Yngve Ludviksen, since 2013 by Roy Erland Myrdal and since 2014 also by Marius Huse .

Internationally, he had his first performances in the summer FIS Cup 2013: The Villach Alpine Arena , he finished on 13 and 14 July 2013, the seats 30 and 26. In the FIS Cup winter season 2013/14 on the Tveitanbakken in Notodden on 12 and December 13, 2013 he was 29th and 14th. Then he moved to the Continental Cup . At the Norwegian championship in 2014 on the Skarbakken in Molde , he started for the Akershus province and received a bronze medal, together with Vegard Swensen , Rune Velta and Tom Hilde. Granerud achieved his first victory in the Continental Cup on February 14, 2015 on the Salpausselkä hill ( HS 130) in Lahti ahead of Anže Lanišek and Janne Ahonen , after he had achieved the best number of points in both the first and second round.

Halvor Egner Granerud's greatest success in the junior area was winning the gold medal at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty in team jumping on the normal hill, together with Joacim Ødegård Bjøreng , Phillip Sjøen and Johann André Forfang . In the individual competition, he took 20th place.

He took part in the Ski Jumping World Cup for the first time on December 5, 2015, when jumping from the normal hill in Lillehammer , but, like three other Norwegians, was disqualified because of a wrong suit. At the Junior World Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , Romania , he won the silver medal behind Germany together with Marius Lindvik , Are Sumstad and Robin Pedersen . With the Norwegian mixed team, he just missed the medal ranks in fourth, while he was 17th in the individual competition. He scored his first World Cup points on December 30, 2016 at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorfwith the 28th place after a 29th place in the first round. He jumped into the top 10 for the first time with his 5th place on December 16, 2017 in Engelberg . At the Norwegian Championships in Oslo in 2018, he won the bronze medal on the normal hill.

With three placements among the top five in the 2018/19 World Cup , Granerud recommended himself for the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol . There he finally took 33rd place on the large hill and was fifth with the Norwegian team. He was not used when jumping from the normal hill. He finished the season in 15th place in the overall World Cup ranking and by winning two silver medals at the Norwegian Championships in Oslo. With his best season to date under his belt, Granerud was again assigned to the World Cup squad. After winning the Grand Prix in summer 2019was able to achieve some good results, Granerud was out of shape at the beginning of winter 2019/20 . Therefore, he first started in the Continental Cup , but there were no good results. For this reason, Granerud withdrew from training and refrained from further competition jumps. It was not until the end of February that he returned to the World Cup circus in Râșnov, Romania . He showed himself improved in form and was able to collect his first eight World Cup points of the season on the second day of the competition. He finished the season in 61st place overall in the World Cup. In summer 2020 he took part in the pandemicdid not take part in a few international competitions, so that the results of the national performance comparisons were the most important benchmark before the season. A first indication of a significant increase in performance compared to the previous year was provided by the Norwegian Summer Championships in Trondheim , where Granerud won the silver medal. Another silver medal at the Norwegian Championships 2020 in Oslo at the end of October confirmed this trend. In addition, he won his first championship title in the team together with Adrian Thon Gundersrud , Fredrik Villumstad and Marius Lindvik. Because of these achievements Granerud was part of the Norwegian teamWorld Cup kick-off in Wisła , where he became the secret favorite after strong jumps in qualification and team jumping. In fact, he managed two strong jumps in the individual competition, but in fourth place he just missed the podium. A week later he was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory in Kuusamo in the second individual competition of the weekend after another fourth place.
