The individual competition in Trondheim took place on March 15, 2018. The strong updraft made for great distances. In the trial run, Markus Eisenbichler clearly exceeded the hill record with 148.5 meters, the run was then canceled. In the first round Robert Johansson set a new official hill record from start hatch 2 with 145.5 meters. Only a short time later this was improved in the same round by Kamil Stoch to 146 meters. Stoch started his jumps from start hatch 1 and thus with the smallest possible run-up on this hill.
